I learned some new perspectives that I hadn't otherwise considered. Though maybe not the perspectives that I necessarily agree with, they were new and I do appreciate that. It's always important to hear both sides of a conversation, especially when certain viewpoints are so underrepresented and rarely shown. I also learned about a few African American business owners, whom I'd never heard of prior to this.

Black History Month in America teaches us about the struggles and troubles of Black people in America. We learn about the injustices they faced, like slavery and segregation, and how they fought for equality through movements like the Civil Rights Movement. We also discover the cultural contributions of Black Americans in areas like music, art, literature, and sports. Despite facing obstacles, Black individuals have shown resilience and leadership, inspiring others and making significant achievements. Black History Month reminds us that the fight for racial equality is ongoing and encourages us to learn, understand, and support each other.

During the past week, I've learned what it took to gain equality for African Americans, and the different ways they acquired it. Martin Luther King Jr. for example, decided to promote peace and instead of using violence, think about the other point of view. MLK marched for equality, spoke for equality, and even went to jail for their rights. I also learned about the 7 African American students who attended school for the first time and brought a ton of controversy amongst them.

Something I learned that I didn't really know before was the impact Barack Obama made that gave so much Black People hope. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said that he paved the way of the Civil Right movement for black people 90 percent but there is still that 10 percent left and once Barack Obama became president people started to say he filled that 10 percent left. Now I understand why Barack Obama is so important to the Black community. Nobody believed that we would have a Black president. It was not easy but he did it. That is what I learned about the last week we spent studying about Black History month and why Black people make America so great.

As we learned about Black people in America, I have learned so many new things that I didn't know before about black people in America. One of the main things that I learned was that black people in America are not always treated the same because of the color of their skin. They sometimes don't get the same opportunities as other people do for example like white Americans. Although, many black people in America get treated differently, many of them have made a huge impact in America. For example, Rosa Parks had a huge impact for black people in America. She is best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. She showed other black people in America to stand up for themselves and what they believe in. Even though this is just one example of an individual who made a huge impact on black people in America, There are so many others that have made a great impact on black people in America as well.

I learned about how there was a misconception regarding what values black americans stride towards regarding political parties. The most interesting thing I learned is that when African Americans suffer the most consequences when being portrayed to hate the police or being anti government to a certian extent. In addition, the Uncle Tom video proposed factors such as when Obama became president most black americans supported him and his campaigns because in proportion he was black himself and that the democratic party offered government aid whether that was financial or a supportive notion for being black. However, I learned the history of the democratic party and just to summarize it all, they disliked black people. Even the KKK was involved in this party. But, when you look at things from a different perspective you can see that the Republican party were the ones who advocated for their rights and during these times promoted traditional values and to be off on your own to learn how and to be successful. That was one thing I took away and how I can apply it to my own life as well.

In my research for the essay, I looked into the military history and contributions of African Americans. Their contributions in WWII set a precedent and the beginning of equality in the U.S. military during a time of segregation and discrimination. I also learned all about other Black American educators and businessmen as well. What I've learned about African Americans is how much they have significantly contributed to different parts of the United States from its origin up to its present state, and yet have been underrated to have adequate effects on America's political-economic systems. I learned that the civil rights movement was the first step to representing the true image America represents as it was promised to be a state where "all men are created equal" and shouldn't have the problem of discrimination towards a certain race. Though segregation towards African Americans still hasn't completely faded out of the country, at least the US is developing in the right direction when it comes to ethnic morals I think.

This past week while learning about Black History, we were told about all the struggles that black families faced and still encounter today. What I remember the most from the lessons we were taught was the interview video where republican and democratic people were put into a room and discussed the differences that they believe. Another thing I remember from the lesson was the video when they went to see the neighborhood where there were many black families who were at the lowest point where the only source of income for them was to sell drugs. The people in those homes said that if there was any other way of making money they would prefer to do that to support themselves, but the government makes it hard for them to find financially stable jobs. However this video was not only about black people, all families in the neighborhood were being kicked out of their homes and were expected to find a new area to live in.

What I have learned about black people in America is that they are not what they are portrayed most of the time. I want to emphasize that the black people of This nation teach us that anything is possible. I have realized that they stand out in almost every possible area and that they are not a victim. Society wants to make them believe that they are the victims, that they are poor and that they are the only ones with problems but the reality is that this nation has given them more than any other place in the world in my opinion. Based on the articles and videos that I have researched and analyzed, I can say that many black people have fallen into that lie of the victim but at the Same time many have begun to open their mind and see beyond it. An example of this are all the black Americans who are pro-conservatories or Republicans, and who know that Democrats have been anonymously behind many situations that hurt black people or any national situation that is related to this issue of racism. This concludes that maybe this racism doesn't exist and maybe people just want to believe that the problem exists when it doesn't. The proof that progress is in all those who have achieved their own success in one way or another in this country regardless of their skin tone.

What I learned about Black History month is that black people had helped our nation for years in every subject there is to do. The three specific ones that I researched were from Military, science and education. Here are three examples, one, General Lloyd Austin was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in a near-unanimous vote to become the first Black defense secretary of the United States. Two, Fanny Jackson Coppin, one of the first Black alumnae of Oberlin College, and third is Willie Hobbs Moore, who was an American physicist and engineer. She was the first African American woman to earn a PhD in physics. All of these people played important roles in our society to make it better and safer.

I learned that African American people have made major impacts and improvements for the United States. They have made scientific discoveries and different advancements for various fields. Although they might be more popularly known in sports, entertainment or standing up for civil rights, African Americans are also successful in a variety of fields like being scientists, doctors and serving in the military. One of the leaders I wrote about is Mae Jemison who made history being the first African American women in space. African Americans continue to be an integral part of society, specifically in the United States. It is important to celebrate Black History month along with all of the African Americans who have made great achievements.

What I have learned about Black people in America is that they have heavily impacted our social norms and our scientific advancements. Especially when during the mid 1900s and late 1900s where Black people were heavily criticized and looked down upon. They have brought peace and unity through their protests and even today, there are many leaders in government and CEOs who aide and lead people to become better than the past. Other than societal improvements, many Black scientists have contributed to more researches such as different ways to preserve food so that there is less waste in homes.

This past month we have had the opportunity to study Black History in our history classroom setting. It is important to look at Black history and acknowledge what they have done to help make America a wonderful country, and shape the future. We studied important and influential black leaders from different areas such as the areas of Economics, Education, Business, and more. A couple of the Black leaders I learned about were Madam C.J. walker who was the first African-American female who was a self-made millionaire from her hairline in the area of business, and Dr. Susan M. Collins who was the first African-American woman to lead a federal reserve bank in the area of economics. Black History Month serves us a reminder to encourage, learn, understand, and support each other.

What I learned is that black people are the strongest people we could know. For a long time they were discriminated because of the color of their skin. Black people fought really hard for their rights and fought hard enough to make a change. African Americans were not always seen as regular people or the same as us. However, I have learned that now their are several famous black people who have made a chance such as educators, lawyers, offices, doctors, and psychologists. Some names of them are Francis Cecil Sumner, Beverley Greene and Joseph White.
